The Burnside is a bascule type drawbridge that opened in 1926. Architecturally speaking, the most significant thing about the bridge are the twin towers at each end of the movable section, done up in Italian Renaissance style. Culturally speaking, the significant things about the bridge is what goes on UNDERNEATH it. Under the westside is Portland’s famed tourist trap Saturday Market, and under the eastside is the world-renowned Burnside Skatepark.

BICYCLE INFO: Bike lanes run in both directions on the bridge itself, though the connections on both ends are a bit spotty, forcing you to suddenly merge with fast-moving traffic.
