Laurelwood Public House and Brewery
If you want a more airy beer-drinking environment, the Laurelwood’s high ceilings and spacious main room is the place to be. The food is pretty typical of brewpubs (i.e. not that cheap and not that spectacular) but the main point of a brewpub is the beer. And Laurelwood has some of the best in Portland. Check out their “Tree Hugger Porter” and “Free Range Red.” If you go early for dinner, this place is kid-friendly, and there are a lot of local families that bring the little ‘uns, so keep that in mind if you have a particular aversion to rugrats.
