Forget New York, let’s talk New Haven style! For the uninitiated, the Big Apple is not the only city to take pride in its pizza. And sure, New Haven, CT style pizza is quite similar to NYC, but I think New Havenites take more pride in their product. The generations-running feud between Elm City fixtures Pepe’s and Sally’s over who makes a better pie is legendary, and known nation-wide. Bella Faccia carries the spirit of New Haven pizza to the Alberta Arts District. Firstly, the yardstick for pizza measurement is the cheese slice. You can dress it up as much as you want, but if a pizzeria can’t make a good cheese slice, then it can’t make pizza. Bella doesn’t disappoint there! Secondly, it also makes tasty gourmet pies as well. Thirdly, Bella offers damn good vegan slices seven days a week, loaded with choice veggies and seasoned tempeh on a bean base (now all y’all who were rolling yer eyes at the intro are all at attention, huh!) Finally, the owner is actually from the New Haven area (so she obviously knows what good pizza is!)And the ambience of the place: pure magic! They always have some interesting music playing. The other day they were playing Electric Light Orchestra. ELO, man!!
