Anna Bannanas

Commonly referred to as “the other good coffee house” in the Northwest neighborhood, Anna Bannana’s is in an old foursquare house, meaning it feels more homey than a standard coffee joint. The staff is friendly and the coffee is good…what more could you want?

They actually misspell their name as "Anna Banannas." The two cafés here in Portland are named after a nightclub in Honolulu, started by a man who was notoriously bad at spelling.

Thanks for the correction Brandon, and cool to hear the origin of the name!

so how come the website is http://www.annabannanascoffee.com/ and their logo looks like this (note spelling): http://www.annabannanascoffee.com/ima...
I am confused. Maybe the place in Hawaii spells it with the double n's at the end, and Portland spells it with double n's in the beginning? someone walk by it and check it out.

I have been told, but I haven't confirmed it, that the person who started the coffee houses is the well-known mail-artist of the 1970s, "Anna Banana". None of which explains the extra "N".

Maybe it all has something to do with this:
