DIGNITY VILLAGE

In December 2000, a group of homeless individuals decided to do something to get themselves out of the doorways. They set up five tents on public land, and Dignity Village was born. Through hard work, determination, public support, and resourcefulness, Dignity Village has grown and thrived to be a self-governing village that houses formerly homeless people with the city’s approval. The residents build their own shelters and take part in the village decisions. Dignity is currently in the process of moving on to a new phase by establishing a perma-site based on their on-going model. In its current location, Dignity Village makes use of environmentally-friendly materials such as strawbale housing, and uses wind-generated electricity. Dignity Village serves as a unique model of one solution for homelessness, and is one of the oldest on-going homeless villages in the country. It has gained interest from homeless advocates from around the world. Visitors are welcome to drop by.

I am trying to reach a friend of mine who lives at dignity village. Her name is velvet and I would love to hear from her. Could you please let her know that I would like it if she were to email me sometime and let me know how she is doing.
Thank you.

Ummm, this really isn't the place for that. We are a review site, not a communications viaduct. Why don't you try their Tribe page?

Once again, this website shouldn't be intended as a way to contact the people and places listed. If you need to get in touch with them, contact them directly. I don't know if anyone at Dignity Village knows if this site exists, and if they do, I doubt they check this thing with any regularity. If all else fails, drop by the Village and ask them directly.
