Despite being one of the oldest independent bookstore in town (in biz since the early ‘70s when it was a bastion of radical literature), for some reason Looking Glass is not well known. Is it because it was in a hidden corner of downtown? Or that it was too close to Borders? That should change now that it moved to the Sellwood neighborhood, an area lacking a book seller. You’ll find inside a good selection of lit and a helpful staff that will give you the attention you can’t get at McBorders. And there’s always an interesting event or reading going on.
