About every couple weeks I like to take a “field trip” to Sellwood, a neighborhood still in SE Portland yet detached enough that it feels like another town. The cruise alongside the Willamette is beautiful, the views of the city from Sellwood Blvd, but the coffee? Well…nothing really impressed me down there, whether it be quality of coffee or atmosphere of shop. Luckily the Ugly Mug came along. This joint has got the Stumptown, it’s got the atmosphere, it’s got the mug-shaped bike rack in front, and now it’s got the beer (that’s why it’s open til 10!) I can get so amped up here it can almost make a trip to the Bins bearable. Almost!
