Once known as the “Coney Island of the Northwest”, originally opened May 30, 1905, making it one of the oldest amusement parks in the country, and the only amusement park in Portland. In keeping with the design of other “Trolley Parks” across the country, most of its visitors “back in the day” disembarked from trolley cars which from downtown Portland to Oregon City. The trolleys are gone, but the tracks are still there, the park sandwiched between them and the Willamette River. And the rides are still there, so if you’re in the mood for good ol’ carney style fun in the summer, head here. Don’t forget the Roller Rink, which is open year-round! The rides only operate spring to early fall (daily in summer, weekends-only any other time). You can also access the park via the new OMSI-Springwater bicycle path.
