This worker-owned cooperative has two convenient locations on Ankeny. The main shop (1914 SE Ankeny St) specializes in bike repair and used parts, and the Annex (734 SE Ankeny St) specializes in used bike sales (which they overhaul on-premises), bicycle accessories, and bike rentals. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Make sure you schedule an appointment early for bicycle work, since they tend to get quite backed up, especially in summer. Bike rentals available.

These guys are fantastic. I've been all over the city, looking for a place I felt comfortable enough with to buy a used bike from, and I knew I'd found the place the minute I walked in the door here. Really friendly, knowlegeable staff, who aren't haughty about the fact that they probably know more about bikes than you will ever care to! Good job, guys!

i do admit i've had some of my least favorite bikeshop experiences at citybikes, but i've also had good transactions there. (and i've also exploded a tube while inflating it inside the other shop, so, maybe i deserved it! haha..)
that said, i've always been baffled by the attitude among a gaggle of geeks that choose two human-powered wheels for their transportation... i mean, bikes are rad! we all agree! let's all get along! while riding bikes!
