Although a bit further from downtown than the Northwest Neighborhood hostel, it’s still easy to get to (use the 14 bus) and close to all the wonders Hawthorne Blvd. brings. Friendly staff, clean decor, spacious kitchen & living rooms, yard, garden, deck, covered porch, and plenty of environmentally friendly accents like the ecoroof, cob kiosk, and rain gardens. Linens included, no lockout/curfew, bike storage, bike rental, ample free parking, Internet (DSL kiosk & wireless system), free baked goodies, $1 pancake breakfasts, and a Sunday Brunch open to the community.

Dorm rate: $19–23, private room rate: $48–55. Lower price during low-season (Nov-Apr), higher during high-season (May-Oct). Don’t forget lodging tax (12.5%) and a $3 fee if you are not a Hosteling International member. Open all year with 24-hour access. Reservations are advisable all year.
