(Le Bistro) Montage
Love it or hate it, Montage has long been a staple in Portland’s late-night dining scene. The menu ranges from inexpensive to the more expensive, with a variety of cajun-style favorites. The favorite inexpensive standby for many is the 4 + varieties of mac and cheese (my own personal favorite being the green pesto basil mac). This is definitely a good place to go with a crew of friends, but not for a quiet date. The music is loud and varied, the lighting is low, and Montage is frequented by those on their way to the bar or coming from the bar. Prepare to possibly feel harassed by your waiter, but that’s part of the charm. Montage is a place where you’ll never feel cool enough, but at least they provide cheap, fun, and usually tasty late-night eats. Keep your eyes peeled for the interesting Portland-centric version of The Last Supper on the wall. Leave enough food for leftovers as the wait staff’s tinfoil creations always amaze.
