The long-standing vegan/vegetarian institution of Portland (it’s been here longer than you have!) And as a tesatment to its longevity, the Paradox is the place where you will always run into someone who you’ve seen around town for the entire length of time you lived in Portland (whether seven months or seven years), yet you really don’t know them (and probably don’t even remember their name!) They specialize in inexpensive diner-styled meatless meals, though they do offer a real hamburger (cooked on a separate grill), hence the paradox. They serve breakfast all day and offer early bird specials weekdays before 10am. The weekend brunch hours are hella crowded, so plan accordingly.
