Fehrenbacher Hof Coffee House

This is one of my favorite “hidden” coffeehouses in town. Tucked away in a corner not normally travelled to by the “hip” crowd (that’d be Goose Hollow), the Fehrenbacher serves up some great caffienated beverages. They always seem to have delicious baked goods at prices that can’t be beat. And if you just want a li’l something to eat and not spend a lot of dough, you can just get toast! (The secret: use the peanut butter and jelly they provide to make a toasted pb&j sammich!) The back room is a cozy place to while away a drizzly Northwestern afternoon, contentedly reading or drawing without worrying about running into someone you know (which can happen regularly at other places). The Hof is owned by everyone’s favorite eccentric ex-mayor, Bud Clark. Whoop Whoop!

The Hof is literally one of the last places in Portland to get amazing espresso without having to prepare to see and be seen, so shame on whoever posted. The Hof belongs to the regulars (just ask Derek or Pam).

Sesqua, I am the one who wrote the comment (aka The Editor). I'm a bit baffled to your reaction, since the review is a positive one. Are you reacting to my observations on Goose Hollow? No one ever said it was bad to not be in a hip area. Don't take everything so seriously.

you guyz are lame for saying 'oh gee that's a secret spot and you're ruining it' you're just ruining it that much more... hahaha

that's funny, i (& shawn i guess) didn't realize exactly what Sesqua's complaint was about, but now it's clear. give it up! there's no escaping the hipster swarm! besides, only cool people read the zinester's guide. no worries.

Would be interested in knowing more about fehrenbacher name (family). I'm in IL--not too many of us around.

Ray, you should probably give ol' Bud Clark a call. Sometimes he wears leaderhosen.

I forgot the street address which I needed for a friend. Your site was one of the only things on goggle that showed up so you are read not just by people in the zine community. Just so you know the place is named for Bud's first wife-her maiden name. The shop is owned by his kids not him. I always run into people I know there, I never get work done there.

That would be "lederhosen"... Expose yourself and keep portland weird; drink Full Sail Pale Ale and walk to work. Think Green, join the Mazamas, grow your sideburns, write some poetry.
