Washington Park.

This park is probably the city’s most popular (i.e. touristy). From it, you get some spectacular views of the city. Contained within it’s boundaries are Hoyt Arboretum, the Japanese Garden, Children’s Museum, the world-renowned International Rose Test Garden, and, for better or worse, the World Forestry Center and Portland Zoo. Only the Rose Garden and Arboretum are free, get out the wallet for the other attractions! Expect two things of this park: large crowds, especially on weekends and doubly-especially in the summer; and when you’re parents visit, they’ll want to go here. There’s various ways to access it, the easiest is from SW Park Place west of SW Vista, or from the MAX line’s Zoo Station, (the stop here is the only underground station on the system!) where Zoobomb starts (see listing under “bicycles”).
