Multnomah County Central Library Picture File (at Central Library)

On the 3rd Floor in the Henry Falling Art and Music Library. The picture file is an invaluable resource to the zinester. What is it, you ask? Well, have you ever thought, “damn, I could use a lot of pictures of people dancing…” That’s what the picture file is for! Just go up to the information desk in the Art and Music Library on the 3rd floor and say “hi! I am looking for pictures of [insert topic here].” The librarian will look to see if they have a file on that subject, and if so, they give you a card to take to the picture file desk. There a different librarian will give you the file, which you can’t take out the library, but there are 10-cent photocopies just around the corner. I wrote a zine that I filled with dozens of pictures of robots from the picture file. Save yourself the time of looking through hundreds of old magazines for just the right pics- the picture file has already done that for you. It’s a zinester’s dream.

hi!

i'm one of the librarians at MCL and we are so glad you know and love the picture file - we love it too!

and by the way, good news, you can check the pictures out! just pull out the ones you want, and we'll make a new folder for you to check out.

and while you're at the Central Library, be sure to check out the new zine collection (2nd floor, in the Periodicals room).

thanks!
